Every parent deserves peace of mind knowing their child is safe at school. But under today’s loose gun laws, kids are sitting ducks.

Children also face stressors like bullying, low self-esteem, mental health concerns, and suicidal thoughts - in and outside of school.

Every child deserves a quality public education — no matter their ZIP code. South Carolina’s students, teachers, and schools have been underfunded for too long. Teachers shouldn't have to use their own money or create an Amazon Wishlist to buy supplies.

It’s time to invest in our children, not defund their future. Let's help them thrive.

Jenna will propose and champion policies that:

• Ensure common-sense gun laws and gun violence prevention measures that coexist with the Second Amendment. Don't worry - Jenna's not coming for your guns. Law-abiding citizens have the right to bear arms. It's those charged with domestic abuse or violent offenses that deserve to lose that right. It's the background check loopholes that need closing. It's secure storage and child access prevention that needs strengthening.

• Develop affordable afterschool and community programs that foster learning, personal growth, social skills, and emotional well-being. Let's help our kids grow up to be well-rounded, well-informed adult citizens.

• Expand school-based mental health services for kids. Suicide is the second leading cause of death for ages 10-17. We need to help kids where they are.

• Fully fund public schools and reject private school vouchers that siphon money away from classrooms.

• Strengthen literacy and reading outcomes for schoolchildren through evidence-based teaching methods.
