But under today’s loose gun laws, kids are sitting ducks.Children also face stressors like bullying, low self-esteem, mental health concerns, and suicidal thoughts - in and outside of school.Every child deserves a quality public education — no matter their ZIP code. South Carolina’s students, teachers, and schools have been underfunded for too long. Teachers shouldn't have to use their own money or create an Amazon Wishlist to buy supplies. It’s time to invest in our children, not defund their future. Let's help them thrive.Jenna will propose and champion policies that:<ul><li>Ensure common-sense gun laws and gun violence prevention measures that coexist with the Second Amendment.</li><li>Develop affordable afterschool and community programs that foster learning, personal growth, social skills, and emotional well-being.</li><li>Fully fund public schools and pay teachers and staff what they deserve.</li><li>Reject private school vouchers that siphon money away from classrooms.</li><li>Strengthen literacy and reading outcomes for schoolchildren through evidence-based teaching methods. </li></ul>

So glad to call the Lowcountry home. District 112 is special - there's nothing like living where people want to vacation! Our recent population explosion attests to that. Growth is inevitable, so we must welcome it in a smart, thoughtful way to protect what makes our community so beautiful.Responsible growth means expanding development in ways that supports the economy and community while protecting the environment and quality of life. Keeping our citizens safe is the top concern.Our coastal lands are susceptible to flooding, hurricanes, sea-level rise, and erosion. It's important to be mindful of the ways we approach land use to mitigate these risks while keeping up with population growth while still maintaining the charm of our cities and towns. Let's balance the southern charm of our district while modernizing it for current and future climate, environment, and population considerations.Jenna will propose and champion policies that:<ul><li>Emphasize environmental protections for our beaches, marshes, and wetlands.</li><li>Increase infrastructure to keep pace with the population growth and quality of life needs.</li><li>Promote industries that align with conservation efforts. </li></ul>

We are facing an affordability crisis.Housing costs and insurance rates are out of control. Everyone deserves the chance to live in the community where they work, but skyrocketing housing prices are pushing working families out. Teachers, nurses, and first responders shouldn’t have to drive an hour just to serve the community they love.Living paycheck to paycheck is stressful. Nobody should have to face choosing between paying rent or buying groceries, especially when people at the top keep getting richer at their expense.We need to prioritize people over profit and keep our community livable now and for the next generation.Jenna will propose and champion policies that:<ul><li>Offer affordable housing solutions and fair housing policies.</li><li>Bolster local employment opportunities and encourage small businesses.</li><li>Encourage a flat income tax system that works for working families, where fairness comes first. Women deserve equality in every part of life — at work, at home, and in healthcare.Women are the backbone of our workforce, but too many are forced out because of skyrocketing childcare costs, absence of childcare availability, unfair pay, and lack of good employment opportunities. South Carolina is letting its women down by blocking reproductive freedom and personal agency. Women deserve to make their own healthcare decisions without interference from politicians and religious doctrine. South Carolina is also letting its mothers down. Our state has an atrocious maternal mortality rate - 8th highest in the nation - with women of color facing twice the risk of white women. Maternal mental healthcare is severely lacking as well.We can do so much better for the 2.8 million women in our state.When women succeed, families succeed. When families succeed, our entire community is stronger.Jenna will propose and champion policies that:<ul><li>Promote affordable quality childcare, fair opportunities at work, and equal pay for equal work.</li><li>Protect women's reproductive rights and access to healthcare.</li><li>Improve access to prenatal care and decrease maternal and infant mortality rates.</li><li>Strengthen maternal mental health awareness and availability of resources.</li></ul>
